Plácido Domingo and his own Villány blend

The world famous tenor opera singer loves the wines of Villány, and there is a new evidence to prove that! 24 June in the city of Pécs, south of Hungary saw an exceptional first night: Traviata on the stage, and Plácido Domingo Classics Selection 2012 red blend in the glasses!

The city of Pécs hosted a four day opera event (22–25) called Plácido Domingo Classics, and the iconic winery of Villány, Bock Cellar took the opportunity to release a red blend tailor-made to the taste of Plácido Domingo himself.

The beginning of a beautiful friendship

The relationship between the singer and Bock winery goes back to 2008, when the mayor of Pécs took him to see the neighbouring Villány and taste the wines of the region, including the wines of József Bock. The next year an opera contest called Operalia was organized in Pécs – another opportunity for the participating opera stars, including Plácido Domingo, to visit Villány. The maestro has visited Bock Cellar since 2008 several times, and this special blend of the 2012 vintage has been chosen by him! Plácido Domingo is keen on the full bodied red wines, and the Plácido Domingo Classics Selection 2012 is absolutely a wine to meet his requirements. The wine is made only in limited quantity!
