Bock&Roll – a white wine with zest
József Bock is one of the most famous winemakers in Villány, he was one of the handful pioneers to begin the new era of wine in Hungary after the change of the regime in the 90’s. He is still very active, but when decides to retire, he does not have to worry: his son, Valér does not lack ambition. He has his own wine brand called Bock&Roll, and now you have a chance to taste the previous vintages (’15, ’14, ’12 and ’10) of this fruity, light, yet complex red blend wine made of Syrah, Kékfrankos and Pinot Noir, and to taste the first white Bock&Roll. The occassion is called Bock&Roll Picnic and it is organized on 23 June, on Szent Iván night (Saint John’s night) in the picturesque village of Palkonya, near Villány. The tasting is accompanied by grilled street food and of course with some live music. Tickets cost 5000 HUF (15 euros) when purchased in advance, and available in limited quantity. Thus if you happen to stay in Hungary, the picnic is a good motivation to discover Villány wine region. The event website is in Hungarian, if you need help, contact us!
