Marathon in Rosé in Villány

Date: 14–15 July, 2017
Location: Villány, Hungary
Type of event: funky running contest and rosé wine festival

Médoc Marathon in France is definitely „The” marathon for winelovers, however this little sister of the Bordeaux running contest in Hungary is fun as well. Runners dress in pink and run a modest 3 kilometres, meanwhile they can refresh themselves of course with some rosé „fröccs” (fröccs is the Hungarian world for spritz, wine with soda water). Villány is famous for its red wines, however summer is not the season of full bodied, long aged complex reds, so the wine region shows its more lighthearted face to the thousands of visitors who pilgrim to taste the rosé wines, participate in the short running and enjoy the music shows on stage – all in pink. The „marathon” will take place ont he 15th July, and you can enter online or ont he spot in the morning, and it is worth for sure, you can win for example a wine tasting in Bock Cellar or at Gere Attila Winery. Kids are also welcome to partcipate, they can win zoo tickets and other great rewards.

Wineries at the festival

More than 20 wineries will offer their rosé wines in the centre of Villány, where most program will take place. Sauska, Csányi, Bock, Attila Gere are just some of the big names you can find in one place.

For accommodation, click here, you will find a list of hotels and bed and breakfast houses, only in Hungarian, but if you write to them, most of them understand some English.

The festival is free admission.
