The Thummerer Winery is a family enterprise that began in 1984 when we first started grape cultivation and wine making. We produce wines from our self-established, 100-hectare vineyard in the Eger wine region. There is a wide selection of varieties on our land. In our vineyard, we grow 80% black grapes and 20% white.
Every year we renew our technology with internationally recognized modern and superior quality equipment. This is true not only for our winery but also for our viticulture. Our main goal is to attain the highest quality so that we can create a specialty each year that will enhance our selection.
Our winery is located in Noszvaj, 12 km from the center of Eger. The 2,000 sq. meter cellar, which was once an estate manor, was carved out by hand from the volcanic tufa rock. We extended the old cellar with a new, 2,200 sq. meter cellar system that was also hewn from the volcanic tufa rock. The temperate and balanced climate of the cellar provides ideal conditions for wine aging.
We process the majority of the white grapes by reductive technology and directed fermentation, although white barrique specialties also appear in our selections. The red wines are ready after fermenting on the skin for 2 to 4 weeks, then aging in the traditional way for 1.5 to 2 years in oak barrels. The wines then spend at least an additional six months aging in their bottles before leaving the cellar.

Egri Csillag 2015
Nice greenish tone. Fresh spring meadow full of flowers on the nose. Tramini and Zenit give the body, while Királyleányka adds the acidity of the wine. A really long lasting wine with lovely finish.
Egri Bikavér superior 2011
This Egri Bikavér Superior 2011 is one of the flagship wines of the winery, made only in the best vintages. A fully ripened, developed great wine with stunning character and soft tannins.
Vili Papa Cuvée 2006 / 2009 / 2011
A Bordeaux Blend with extremely dark ruby colour. Very intense on the nose with rich fruitiness and spices. A notable extract sweetness on the palate. Velvety tannins, long, exciting finish. It has a potential of around 20 years.
