A place in Szekszárd full of love and good wines
International wine competitions are important, they measure quality in objective circumstances. Awards are precious, they are evidences of high standards. But when it comes to the consumers’ opinion, we must realize, that this is the most valuable acknowledgement one can receive. Pécsi Borozó, the most important quality print and online regional wine magazine carried on a survey at the end of 2017 to find out the favourite winery of Pannon broader wine region. The winner is: Eszterbauer Winery in Szekszárd.
A winery worth visiting
Pannon broader wine region includes 4 wine regions: Villány, Szekszárd, Tolna and Pécs. The readers of Pécsi Borozó magazine sent 474 votes altogether to name their favourite winery. The top 5 list is the following:

Eszterbauer is a family winery, the owner, János Eszterbauer follows his forefathers’s steps and respects the family heritage so much that all the labels are inspired by a late relative or a story from the past generations. The winery building was built in 2004 and offers wine tasting and meals for 60 people. There is accommodation as well in the guest house for up to 8 persons. Visitors are more than welcome, as the voting proves: the winery offers an unforgettable experience.
A good year
2017 was a good year for Eszterbauer Winery for many reasons apart from the above written. Eszterbauer ‘Nagyapám’ (My Grandfather) Kadarka was chosen to be one of the Super 12, the best red wines according to the Circle of Hungarian Winewriters. ‘Öröm’ (Joy) Rosé won gold medal at Szekszárd wine competition. And the time of joy arrived to the family as well: the daughter of János Eszterbauer, Ildikó Eszterbauer gave birth to her first baby boy!
