Gala dinner and fireworks at Kristinus, South Balaton
Kristinus Wine Estate says goodbye to the year with an elegant yet relaxed party. Live music, live show with a magician, piano music and DJ and gourmet dinner with perfectly matching wines – and all these topped with fireworks. The dinner sounds great, just one plate to mention: zander terrine, shrimps with citrus fruit, beetroot and tapioca paired with two wines, the areated Krisecco and the new vintage Sauvignon Blanc. Krisecco is a perfect bubbly (made of Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Muscat Lunel) to celebrate: „Bubbles zigzag across its light yellow tone. Its aroma is dominated by fresh yellow apples. Its light, bubbly nature lends freshness to an exhilarating taste with a slightly bitter finish.”

Fine food in Sopron with Taschner sparkling
If you ask 10 people in Sopron to recommend a high quality restaurant, 9 of them will surely suggest Erhardt restaurant in the centre of the medieval town. On the last evening of the year the restaurant is open and awaits guests with a special a la carte selection offering for example fresh oysters, pumpkin risotto with orange, pumpkin seed and saffron, foie gras terrine with prune-walnut bread or roasted piglet with Bavarian cabbage. The restaurant has an outstanding selection of Sopron wine region, and on New Year’s Eve the whole wine list is available with for example the elegant Taschner Chardonnay bottle fermented sparkling wine. „Straw yellow colour with medium intensity. Subtle perlage. Lovely nose with excellent structure: ripened fruits, a touch of stone fruits, restrained yeasty character. Delicate mousse on the palate with balanced acidity.”
Wine spa moments at Gere Attila Crocus Hotel, Villány
One of the few pioneer winemakers of Villány has a fabulous wine hotel called Gere Crocus Wine Hotel & Resort. The 4 star hotel is listed in the best 25 Hungarian hotels (Trip Advisor), and it well deserves the prestigious ranking: harmony everywhere, in the subtle interior of the rooms, the food and wine pairings of its Mandula restaurant and in the wine spa treatments. For New Year’s Eve they offer special packages including gala dinner with New Year’s classics, gourmet wine dinner, salt room use and many other extras. The winery has an areated sparkling wine called Frici both in white and rosé. The rosé Frici boasts fresh strawberry, sour cherry and flowery aromas with some citrus fruits – ultimately refreshing.
