Tóth Ferenc Winery in Eger wine region has released its 2016 Kékfrankos Superior and 2015 Cabernet Franc Superior with brand new labels with the landscape of the city of Eger on them. Eger is famous for its castle which had a specal role in defending the country against the Turkish invaders, and it also dubbed as „the baroque city of Hungary”. The labels are inspired by a photo of the towers of Eger rising above the city. The design is made by Bence Fajcsák (Color and Code design), and he recommends to see the label in different light, because it shows different colours for example outside in the sun or inside a room. The towers of Eger are mentioned visually to refer to ’Tornyos vineyand’ (meaning Vineyard of towers). The grape for the 2016 Kékfrankos Superior was harvested in October 2016, and after fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine was matured in large casks (5 and 20 hl for 2 years). The resulted wine has an intense, fruity nose typical of Kékfrankos variety full of red berry fruits. The palate is silky with lovely balance. The cherry and sour cherry of the nose continues followed by white and pink pepper typical of the terroir. The wine is ready to be consumed but it can also be kept for years! Enjoy the visit of Eger and enjoy the wine after having taken it home.
