There are several great wineries in Eger wine region, but Tóth Ferenc Winery is probably the most creative. The owner’s dautgther, Katalin is very active, and you may detect some female taste on the amazing packaging of the wines. Look at their new vintage rosé, released for St Martin’s Day – you can’t leave it on the shelf, can you?
„Dry November” is over…
While half of Hungary struggles with the new trend of not drinking alcohol in November, the other half happily celebrates the release of the first wines of vintage 2019. Tóth Ferenc Rozé Újbor (újbor = new wine) is extremely fresh and crispy, the nose impresses with raspberry and cherry, and these red fruits are present on the palate as well. The wine is made of 100% Kékfrankos, harvested from three different vineyards. Controlled fermentation under low temperature helped keep the freshness and fruitiness of the variety.
Santa Claus brings wine, too
In Hungary 6 December, the day of Saint Nicholas is probably the day kids most await. In the evening the spotless, shiny boots placed in the windows get filled with chocolate and other delicacies. Tóth Ferenc Winery thinks of the parents as well: a chocolate–wine pairing is held in the winery in Eger with 8 wines and matching chocolate creations. How about some Rhine Riesling paired with lavander and apricot flavoured milk chocolate? Or some Kékfrankos with qumquat and cashew nut flavouverd 64% Dominican dark chocolate?
The same wine–chocolate tasting is available in Budapest on 21 November!
