The winery was founded in 1998 with the wine processing plant completed in 2003. The name Haraszthy commemorates the great Hungarian, Ágoston Haraszthy. Driven by his passion for wine making, he travelled to California in the 1850s, introducing European varieties for the first time. In doing so staking his rightful claim as one of the founding-fathers of the US wine industry. Informed by this pioneering spirit and lust for innovation, we proudly follow his inspiration today.
Our goal is to produce high-quality wines year after year and to showcase Burgundy varieties (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir) locally. Our main grape varieties are the Irsai Olivér, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and the Pinot Noir. We also have some Pinot Gris, Királyleányka and Zenit for cuvées.
We utilize modern techniques inspired by traditional methods to make distinctive wines full of character. Our winemaker, Dániel Pázmányi, takes fastidious care to ensure that only perfectly ripe, healthy grapes go into our wines. The berry phase is preceded by a rigorous selection, ensuring that only the finest, healthiest berries go through. After gently pressing the grapes, we use controlled fermentation technology for the wines.
In 2016 we produce 220.000 bottles and thanks to the newly aquired lands accross the Etyek-Buda wine region we aim to double this number year by year.
Haraszthy Vineyards is not only about creating value by producing high quality wines but also to provide unforgettable memories to our visitors. In 2008 we have opened Cinnamon restaurant right next to the winery to fully satisfy gastronomy lovers’ passion. We offer fine dining with courses of international cuisine which harmonize perfectly with our wines.
Sir Irsai 2017
A blend based on authentic varieties. A nicely balanced wine manufactured for slow drinking. On the nose, the Irsai Oliver’s muscat and litchi aromas are accumulating with the elderflower characteristic. On the palate, the Királyleányka’s floral and fruity tastes are dominating.
Our Rosé is manufactured from Pinot Noir. Accordingly, besides the strawberry and raspberry notes, it is enhanced with a touch of cranberry while still keeping a vivid acidity.
Sauvignon Blanc 2017
This delectable Sauvigon Blanc tempts the drinker with hints of gooseberry and kiwi framed exquisitely with citrus undertones. Upon drinking, subtle acidity is balanced beautifully with hints of mint and spices. A long and luxurious aftertaste brings fruit flavours to the fore.
Pinot Gris 2017
Very fresh Pinot Gris, mostly fermented in steel tanks. Playful and rocky nose with green apple and mint. Taste is dominated by peach. Cool, long sip, the youthful face of the variety.
Pinot Noir 2016
Cherry color. Primal fruitiness on nose, accompanied by some roasted scent. On the palate besides the sour cherry you will find the presence of chocolate, tobacco and bold notes produced by barrel ageing. Aftertaste is medium-long, spicy.
