Bock Capella Cuvée 2012 Villány Hungary

Villány Bock Capella 2012 is the best red wine

Winelovers Wine Awards results announced

With 1063 entries at the 4th edition, Winelovers Wine Awards have become the largest wine competition organized in Hungary. Samples came from 13 countries, 8 wines received grand gold medal, six from Hungary, one from Romania and one from Italy. The best red wine is Bock Capella 2012 from Villány.

“The level of wines was surprisingly good and a lot variation, which made judging quite interesting. I also really liked the side-program with the wine fair and the masterclasses, which again added a lot to the event.” – said Mikk Parre European Sommelier Champion, member of the jury. The jury members came from 18 countries, and the majority of the foreign experts are buyers or have buying potential (as a head sommelier, for example).

Capella, the brightest star

Capella is the sixth-brightest star in the night sky and it is the brightest star in the northern constellation of Auriga.
Bock Capella is the great selection of Bock Winery, made only in exceptional years. Made from selections from Ördögárok Cabernet Franc (60%) and Merlot (10%) and Jammertál Cabernet Sauvignon (30%) matured for 24 months in new oak barrels. A full-bodied, concentrated wine with an incredible wealth of aroma and depth of flavour. It is characterized by a deeply intense colour verging on black in which tobacco and milk chocolate appear alongside overripe fruit. Alongside the dried fruits, chocolate is a dominant element of its flavour.
On the winery webshop at the moment vintage 2011 is available.
Fun Fact: Bock Magnifico 2020, another flagship wine of the estate also received gold medal. It has been chosen The Best Red Wine of Hungary recently, at the Hungarian National Wine Competition, as we wrote here.
